Smith Pachter McWhorter founding member John S. Pachter was honored by the American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago as the first recipient of the Section’s Allan J. Joseph Award for Excellence in Leadership.
The award recognizes “exceptional effort and accomplishments” as well as “extraordinary contributions” to the Section. In her presentation, Section Chair Carol Park-Conroy explained that the award will not be presented annually, but only when the occasion is deemed appropriate.
Chair Park-Conroy described John as “someone the Section holds in the highest regard, both personally and professionally.” She summarized John’s accomplishments in government contracts, along with his continuous participation in the Section for more than thirty years, including service as Section Chair and several committee leadership roles. John now serves as one of the Section’s Delegates to the ABA House of Delegates. Chair Park-Conroy stated that John’s “long service and exceptional leadership skills exemplify the extraordinary contributions to the Section this award is meant to acknowledge.”
The award honors Allan J. Joseph’s lifetime of service, including Section Chair and Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates for nearly 10 years. A former member of the ABA Board of Governors, Allan served with distinction as Treasurer in a number of ABA organizations, most notably for a three-year term as the Treasurer for the entire ABA. During 2011-2012, he served as Chair of the prestigious Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary which provides evaluations of prospective judicial nominees to the White House.
We congratulate John for being the first recipient of this award, acknowledging his more than 30 years of distinguished service to the Section of Public Contract Law.
