The centerpiece of the firm's recruiting is the summer associate
program. Summer associates are given significant and challenging
assignments that can include research and writing on complex
issues, involvement in ongoing litigation tasks, and client
conferences which in some cases are at the work site. In addition,
summer associates participate in social activities with our
attorneys. The summer associate program is managed by partner
Jonathan Shaffer, who was himself a summer associate.
Since its inception in 1986, the firm has employed 2-3 summer
associates per year. While the firm primarily relies on its
summer associate program for permanent hiring, we have also
considered candidates with qualifying practice experience
or judicial clerkships.
