Nora K. Brent is an associate at Smith Pachter McWhorter focusing her practice on government contracts, construction, corporate compliance, and white collar matters.  She regularly advises clients on grant administration and management issues, including audits and administrative disputes. 

Nora’s government contracts practice includes bid protests, False Claims Act matters, small business size issues, contracting authority, preparation of requests for equitable adjustments and claims, prosecution of contract appeals before Boards of Contract Appeals, and audits and investigations.  Her white collar experience includes assisting clients during or in anticipation of government investigations, responding to subpoenas, conducting internal investigations, and reviewing and evaluating the design and implementation of a large multinational corporation’s global anti-corruption compliance program.  Her construction experience includes work on federal and private construction disputes involving issues such as payment and performance bond issues, mechanics liens, constructive changes, as well as the resolution of construction disputes through mediation, arbitration, and litigation.  She also has experience with electronic discovery and privilege disputes.

Nora received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.  During law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Board and she was the Senior Notes Editor for the Civil Rights Law Journal. She served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Grace B. Carroll of the Fairfax County Circuit Court.
